Every kid is born with the drive to play, explore, test limits, and connect with other kids - without being told how. That is not something we need to teach. It is something they are already born with. Wild Child exists to protect that, not tame it.

Real Play.
Child-led game-play and outdoor activity, grounded in ecological dynamics and the 'as safe as necessary, not as safe as possible' framework developed by Dr. Mariana Brussoni (UBC). Sessions are led by Play Guides who intentionally shape the environment - using natural landscape, loose materials, and subtle boundaries - inviting kids to invent rules, adapt games, and discover their own solutions. Play Guides hold the space and maintain physical and emotional safety boundaries so children have the freedom to test their edges.
Real Skills.
Hands-on negotiation, self-regulation, risk judgment, and adaptive leadership. The kind of genuine confidence that only comes from navigating real situations and solving challenges firsthand.
Real Connection.
Natural camaraderie and playful cohesion across our whole school community. Older students mentoring younger peers, building authentic relationships across classes and grade levels right here on our Canyon Heights grounds.

We do not put children on social media. None. Real Play requires an environment where kids feel completely free to experiment, test their edges, be goofy, or navigate group dynamics without the self-consciousness of being filmed. Play belongs entirely to the children - never to an algorithm.
